If you’re really cool, you read the title of this post in Jay-Z’s voice, and now your body is bopping just a little bit. And now it’s on repeat on Apple Music as I delay actually, and finally starting this blog…

Yes, it’s me, Liz! If you’re here, let’s be honest, you already know me, but for the sake of growing my business let’s pretend like you’re a potential client, trying to get more of an inside scoop on the girl behind the curtain. If you want the cut and dry, like where I went to school, past work, etc. check out the about page and click through the timeline. Here, now, today, let’s talk about the things I’m passionate about, cool?

As I scroll through the bazillion screenshots I take on my phone every day of inspiration images, I think I can safely group them into four main categories:

STRIKING DESIGN
Since art school, I’ve had the firm belief that good design can change, well, pretty much everything. As my day-to-day projects are graphics-heavy I find my outside-office-hours scrolling to focus more on environmental and interior design. I’ve spent the past couple of years totally redesigning the interiors of our home – what I’ve dubbed a mid-century cottage in the woods. To be clear, it’s the interiors that have a little MCM (house was built in 1964), while the exterior I am in the process of turning into more of an English cottage situation. And stay tuned to see as I start my first cutting garden this spring. Fave accounts to follow: @jordanferney, @beataheuman, and @houseofhivedesignco.

FOOD & ENTERTAINING
Oh food, I love you. My husband and I first connected over food, I think he was rambling on about how Gordon Ramsay makes scrambled eggs, and if you know Blair, you know that I knew every detail by the end of it. Together we have travelled the country and internationally, with itineraries often planned around which Michelin-starred restaurant we are dying to try, or those off-the-beaten-path top secret joints. Regardless where we are, we appreciate quality, from the food, to the service, to the details. At home, we love to entertain. Blair is a wonderful cook, he loves creating new things, whereas back when I used to cook, there better be a recipe! So, he handles the ‘back of house’ for our parties, and I’m strictly ‘front-of-house,’ making everything look engaging. Fave restaurant experience: Alinea (Chicago), best meal: Le Bernardin (New York).

TRAVEL ADVENTURES
“The world is waiting…GO!” Sure that’s the catchphrase for The Amazing Race, but that’s how I feel! There is so much out there to explore and experience, that it’s hard to not buy a new flight every day. Growing up, vacation was always THE highlight of the year, and it hasn’t changed in my book, though the locales are now farther reaching. Can I tell you a secret, I enjoy planning the trips as much as the fun I have on the excursions – well, almost as much, speeding down the side of a mountain in St. Lucia on an ATV is arguably more fun then staring at my elaborate travel spreadsheets. That being said, the online hunt of finding the coolest spots is pretty freaking fun, too, and definitely helps get me through the Ohio winters. Most memorable US trip: Aspen – where Blair proposed (March 2013), International: gallivanting across England, France, Germany, Luxembourg, and Switzerland with Mom (October/November 2023).

GROWING BUSINESSES
I’ve helped start a number of my own companies, and in more recent years, I’ve developed this business, Liz Scott Designs, to focus more on strategy, helping others start up, or refine themselves. I am passionate about making our community, here in Northeast Ohio, as vibrant as possible, through a variety of mom and pop retail shops, quality services, delicious restaurants, and so much more. We have all the potential in the world, it just takes people with a lot of heart and monster work ethics to get things going, and all of us as customers, actually supporting these fine folks. And when you need an assist, I’m here to stand by your side, offering logistics support, and beautifully designed ideas.

So yeah, that’s me, or at least what swirls around in my head all of the days. Want to chat about your fave restaurant, cool lighting fixtures, nonsense? DM me on IG Want to talk business? Let’s connect >

PS I pinky promise there will be another article next week – NOT about me, phew!
