Beautiful weather and no plans def meant a trip to my happy place, @grafgrowers! I was there for some houseplants and def scored as they are 20% OFF today PLUS shamrocks! The iron cross shamrocks are my fave with the dark centers, but have never seen these adorable blooms before - they def came home with me!
Documenting bits of my piece from “The Return of the Vampire Hustlers from Hell” art show, “MaGhouley’s,” as it was my first time exploring digital collage and embroidery. While the process happened as kind of a happy accident because of a plethora of challenges at the time kept me from finishing the oil painting I started for it, it opened up a whole new world to me. While I can’t show you the full piece as the subject matter is NSFW, from the backside of the piece you can see the idea of how I focused on exposing little windows/scenes. So this is what I’d like to start playing with in future art. I suppose I’m putting it here to remind myself to do it! I’ve been working so much, I want to be sure to have another creative outlet, too. The idea of creating little worlds is so exciting to me. And, if you’ve followed along for a long time you know I love Wes Anderson’s work and a lot of it is because of the set design and all of the thoughtfulness he puts into his worlds, but then I’m also super inspired by visual artists like @amy_casey_art’s paintings and found objects art, including collections by La Wilson and sculptures by @gwaightee, as they all have always transported me. So here I sit on a Saturday am starting to plot ideas of little worlds that mean something to me, as crazy or tiny as they might be. And now my brain is really going and maybe I’ll get ‘Big Mama’ in on it, my large format printer. While the worlds/scenes will be tiny, there could be quite a large collection of them on one piece. Of course I will need to start mapping a Lovely Somethings piece, but that will def NOT be for sale 💗💌 Oooh, maybe a Howe Meadow Farmer’s Market collage… shout out if you have other ideas…
Some of the really yummy ways I celebrated 46 (typing out 4-6!). Cream cheese frosting from @westsidebakery (sure there was cake, too). Finally made it to @zapzapsushi - EXCELLENT, plus our go to fave @merchanttavern but tried something new for me, the Apricot Burger (Apricot Jam + Brie + Pickled Veg). Excited about what this year will hold, seeking out joy, always 💗✨

To wrap up our trip to Mexico City, we had a lovely last day of museums and a little semi-successful adventuring. We started at the @mnantropologia (Anthropology Museum) - HIGHLY RECOMMEND! Aside from the wonderful installations, the objects themselves and the gamut of the timeline was super impressive. We then walked through the Chapultepec forest to the @eneltamayo (Tamayo Contemporary Art Museum). I need to actually do research on this place, but my assumption is that it was one man’s collection, including a couple of Rothko’s, a Miro, and Joan Mitchell amongst others, plus a large gallery for what I presume are rotating exhibitions, where B fell for Marge and Jar Jar. We then attempted to go to a square known for hand printing presses where you could get business cards made, but as it was NYE they were all closed up - til next time. We also popped in to a bunch of little jewelry stores that were mostly filled with knock offs, but we found a little vintage stall and Blair bought me a turquoise and silver bracelet for my Christmas present, and a wonderful reminder of these adventures. Thanks for following along! #lovelysomethingstravels #blizdocdmx
The end of our tour day, Xochimilco. By the end of the day we had made a bit of small chat with other tour goers which was nice as our bus load filled up three boats, and needed to break the ice somehow. This definitely would have been a way better time with a group of friends, as it was all about the vibes on the boat itself, as there wasn’t much to see aside from a LOT of other boats. Apparently Mexican families love going there for reunions/picnics and pack big spreads to enjoy as they travel dow the canals. For those of unprepared, there are smaller boats that float alongside the bigger vessels, selling Elote (corn), tacos, cervesas, tequila, souvenirs, and you can even hire a mariachi band to jump on your boat and perform, which we of course had to do! #lovelysomethingstravels #blizdocdmx
This. This is one of the things I was most looking forward to on the trip. This one moment walking in to Frida’s courtyard is one I will never forget. This moment when I was describing to Blair what is has meant to me to be able to see where these phenomenal artists like Kahlo and Monet have CREATED their work, to see and feel what INSPIRED them has been life changing for me, and yes I cried, happy tears. I remember going to Italy as a 17 year old and walking through Rome, seeing the eye of the Pantheon, the Pieta, etc. that I had just read about in my first Art History class - mind blowing! But after so many classes, after soooo many years, and after sooooooo much life, and my own evolution, even believing that I am an artist myself, to have the opportunity and privilege to visit these, albeit busy, very personal spaces has been monumental for me. Even to walk in their steps for a little while felt special, and while all of the spaces are inspiring, it’s also a reminder, that they were just people. And they lived, and they made their lives what they wanted, both in their art and their surroundings. #lovelysomethingstravels #blizdocdmx
Walking in to this new year like…I don’t know. 2025 was definitely challenging in so many ways, but I feel like 2026 is full of possibilities for new opportunities. It’s all about how you frame it, right? So here I sit at the airport with Blair, capping off a wonderful week+ in Mexico City and equally excited to get back home. There were challenges along the way this past week, and obviously the year, but the net positive is what counts, in my book! Happy New Year, friends 💗👟🌎✈️
Chalk this up to another time I was jealous of Blair’s long legs! We had an awesome morning exploring the Pyramids of Teotihuacan. Their grandness was accented by the beautiful hot air balloons filling the sky. One day I’d love to do that somewhere, who’s with me? B doesn’t do heights, but we did both climb as high as possible on the Moon pyramid, where each step was nearly the height of my legs. #lovelysomethingstravels #blizdocdmx
Friday night at Lucha Libre! Blair is a huge WWE fan, so I knew he’d have a blast but I had no idea how much fun I’d have. The crowd was insane! We were clapping, stomping our feet, cheering AND booing the whole time. Things happened so fast these clips aren’t even the best, every two seconds there was a new triple twist in the air, etc. and there were always multiple wrestlers in the ring. It was def a show and I declare a must for anyone traveling to Mexico City! #lovelysomethingstravels #blizdocdmx
What a way to celebrate Christmas! Last night we ventured through Chapultepec park - in the dark - to the hilltop Castillo (Castle) de Chapultepec to the Ballet Folklorico’s Navidades en Mexico. We understood none of it, but that’s why visuals are always so important. There was definitely Mary, Joseph, and eventually baby Jesus, plus the 3 Wise Men, and a troupe of devil-type creatures, oodles of angels, mariachi, piñatas and so, so much more. Gracias, Mexico City, for giving us an unforgettable Christmas. #lovelysomethingstravels #blizdocdmx
Feliz Navidad de parte de los Scotts, en la Ciudad de México. Les deseamos a todos un día lleno de todo lo que realmente deseen. Para nosotros, este año, es unión, aventura y, por supuesto... ¡los @cavs!
🇲🇽 🇺🇸 🎅🏽 🏀
Merry Christmas from The Scotts, in Mexico City. We wish you all a day full of whatever you truly desire. For us, this year, it’s togetherness, adventure, and of course…the @cavs!
Una comida perfecta, last night! This perfect meal was a delight for all the senses, even for us tuckered out travelers. If you haven’t watched Knife Edge on @appletv AND you’re into food, I highly recommend it. As someone that’s had some pretty incredible meals in my life, the show gave a new kind of behind the scenes to restaurants and the real financial impact that awards like @michelinguide have on their business. The show’s cover art features @thisislucho and his episode on the show was filmed a couple of years ago, the first time Michelin catalogued Mexico. From our table we didn’t see the kitchen, but I had it in my mind from the show. Instead we got to enjoy one of the lovely nooks of the dining room, with great music and festive fellow diners as we all got to experience the Navidad dinner. It wasn’t 7 fishes but certainly got close! Stand outs were def the corn soup and baby corn with coffee. Plus, the best tuna of our lives. While I was envious of Blair’s Tuna Tostada, the chef was kind enough to give me a jicama topper to side step my avocado allergy. The brioche, perfection, and I wish I had a pic of the tall ceramic pillar the butter was served on. As always, it’s the details for me, and now adding @josephinenhutte stems to my one day list 🥂 Thank you chef, for the warmest welcome to your city and a great kick off to our adventure of leaving home for the holidays. #lovelysomethingstravels #blizdocdmx
Ya know, it was just an average kind of night, helping some of our kids @thecentershopecampus celebrate the holidays with entire @cavs coaching staff and a couple of the players, too! You’re the best, Coach 🏀 @cavscare_
When setting the table for Thanksgiving this year, because of our much smaller group, I grabbed some of our really good bottles, and had a convo with B: at this point in our lives what are we saving the really good stuff for? And then I’ve been listening to @wguidara’s #unreasonablehospitality (which is amazing BTW), and he says to break out the good stuff at the really bad moments. So maybe it’s both, maybe it’s just drink the wine?! These bottles do remind me of being at @papajoes_akron for a @hallwines dinner, and Kathryn sat down and talked with our table for quite a while, and she signed a bunch of bottles for us, too.
Happy Holidays from The Scotts! Too bad our Christmas Cards are already done. So glad I’m married to a man that goes along with my crazy ideas (if given the prerequisite of slowly introducing him to the idea over the course of a month). You’re the best, @darth.hulk 🎅🏽
Friendsgiving 2025 🐰 🐔 🐦 In an effort to go simpler this year, Blair suggested doing a cocktail party, not a seated dinner. Same potluck premise, but this year we added a second award for Best Cocktail, and a secret 3rd award for Best Outfit, as I suggested everyone dress “fun” to be interpreted however you wanted. My desire to take down the reigning champs, the Swankesens, worked in our advantage, as “2 trophies 1 house” stayed true but they both remain here this year. Big shout out to @therealcubcake for his masterful outfit of an outer shirt with pumpkin pie slices atop his @inagarten (and Jeffrey) Tshirt. Everyone questioned my choice of having animal masks lining the buffet table, but once the first person put one on (after the cocktails were flowing), it got better and better. As it happens every year, as I sat watching (and singing along with my friends) karaoke, I texted Blair: “This is my favorite night of the year.” Followed by “I am so happy.” THANK YOU, friends for being a constant source of happiness for us 💕
PS Did you notice the little birdie in my hair?
We’ll be gone for the holidays this year, so I’m having an internal debate whether to decorate or not. I know I know, it doesn’t have to be one or the other…I don’t have to do 8 trees or whatever the count was last year or nothing. I think I’ve landed on doing 1 tree in the family room where we will see it the most and then I was thinking about doing a big wreath in our living room window with some lights on it, facing out into the woods that no one will actually see. No Grinches scaling the house or lining the streets. We don’t have to go full Kranks, we can still be festive and disappear before the big day.
Talk about making my heart happy 💗 I haven’t been to Ghent Square since I closed my shop, Lovely Somethings, which has been almost 6 years ago 😳 We live down the street so I drive by all of the time. After us, my space had an interior designer, and is currently a law office, but we were excited to check out the space next door and Bath’s newest small biz, @wovenwordsbookshop for their Grand Opening. Blair and I stopped, looking a mess after taking the pups for a @summitmetroparks Fall Hiking Spree stroll, and we instantly smiled as we walked in, feeling the magic. There is a wonderful range of books, and little surprises! I was delighted to see my paper friends @freeperiodpress, a cooking and gardening section, and even a @kingjames area - which instantly took me back to my shop the day after he and the team won the 2016 championship and people were stopping in the store asking where LeBron lived, also down the street. I’m delighted for Amy and Lindsey and I hope they find the sense of community you all gave me and that little corner of the world. Reminder: we all need to remember to show up day after day after day! Congrats ladies, and I’m looking forward to joining a craft session, too, signing up now, link in stories 🎨
