Anyone else’s phone full of screenshots from other people’s IG stories? I love doing that, but it’s rare that I ever go back to them, but somehow the action of hitting two buttons at once helps me remember it, and may be the jumping off point way down the road for some random new project. @jordanferney is one of my faves to follow for her love of pattern mixes. Man, I love to set a table. I need a whole closet devoted to table textiles 💡 ah! sounds like a great next project!

Spring has Sprung here on Yellow Creek. Had my amazing “Ladies Night” group over Friday night and got to play with flowers, plates and textiles. Bonus! Amazing dinner by Chef (Elder) Gable.
I haven’t made a post since November. For the past 3 years, every 3 posts have been re: social justice, or lack thereof, esp. because #blacklivesmatter. What this square was going to be was: as we landed in Florida for the month of December, I learned of the details of the bill that could cause our marriage to no longer be recognized, and to be in the state of a man that supports that insanity weighed heavily on me, and finding the right words to express that has been nearly impossible. I won’t go into my feelings here, they are mine, and I’m sure obvious. But what I will say is that these months have been very up and very very down. Focusing on the present has helped me pull through and cherish the little things, like this moment. And I look forward to relishing each new moment, and thanks to lots of new therapy, with a lot less baggage. Onward, happily…
🎉 This little nugget is 9 today 🎉 Happy Birthday #themightyquinn 🥳 Cheers to 9 years of cowering in the corner as your Dad cheers on the @cavs; the cutest darn puppy; through COVID hair; and the resulting awful trip the groomers; being bigger than your best friend for a couple of months; and always snuggling with her; and your grandma; and being so stinking cute that we love you and your anxious antics more each day. My buddy 💗
It’s been quite a past week-ish. I’ve been doing lots of reflecting too, as the curveballs came at me. This photo while the reason for its gathering is so sad, makes me also so very happy. My Aunt Layla, that lives in New Orleans; and cousins Bert and Dan, whom I can never seem to keep track of; are all in Ireland together and dressed up to make their sister/mom/my aunt smile. And that effect warms me here in the states, too…plus it makes me chuckle and remember where my wackily creative side comes from.

What a night! Before Lizzo, we had a sensational time in the backyard of @actinoliterestaurant, here in #Toronto. There are two central fire pits with tables surrounding them, under tin roofs. There was an outdoor kitchen at the back where you could see them grilling away, but as you will see, not your average grilled items.
* Course 1 : Mussels and grilled peppers with dehydrated tomatoes.
* Course 2 “Bread Service” : Leek and Potato Velouté with Chicken Confit, plus stellar sourdough, yeast butter and insanely good salumi.
* Course 3 : (My Fave) Beef Tartare with sliced Cornichons, diced radishes and chives with a bit of garlic aioli at the bottom.
* Course 4 : Autumn Salad of grilled greens, Pumpkin Seeds, dehydrated Plums and more that I can’t remember.
* Course 5 : The leg of lamb we saw them caring for all night, with the most perfect roasted potato under that bed of grilled Brussels Sprouts Top Leaves (didn’t know that was a thing, the single leaf at the top of the Brussels stalk) plus the most perfect Leeks. They were charred and then they removed the central part of them, the hearts, for one of the best tastes in the world.
* Course 6 : Roasted Plums and Rosemary Tart, sitting on a perfect pastry shell and Mascarpone.
* And for a little treat while paying the bill, a Juniper Marshmallow to roast over the fire.

🌟 Cheers to 9 Years (yesterday) 🌟 I remember making sure our wedding invitations and vows said something about ‘adventures’ and what an adventure the past 11 years together have been. I’m so glad we take an annual adventure on this weekend (follow along in stories). There’s no one I’d rather spend all of the minutes with, even when they are filled with your smooth jazz, nerd podcasts and endless Marvel movies/shows, my bug 🐛💗.

Fun fact: I don’t like to take baths. They creep me out if I’m honest and I can’t sit still. But they are beautiful - though in the last one I’m mostly drooling over the chair.
